An Arcata Ago

The Arcata Wharf claims California's first railroad (1855) which extended from the southwest corner of the Plaza out two miles to the Bay. The rail was first made of wood with a horse drawn car, then later becoming iron and steam powered.

An Arcata Ago was produced in 2008 in celebration of Arcata’s 150th Birthday. The collection consists of an introduction by Susie Van Kirk and remastered vintage photos mostly from the Humboldt State University Library Special Collections.
